Cheated by Little Cayman Beach Resort
Little Cayman Beach Resort April 6=12, 2008.
Spotless facilities and boats, gourmet food, near perfect facilities BUT
ALL dives restricted to 60 minutes NO MATTER WHAT! Boat Captain chastized me for staying down longer first day and inferred if I did not mind the rules I would not be allowed on the boat again. I was told that was for safety... I think it was for their convenience!
I complained; they extedned the SECOND morning dive and the afternoon dive to 70 minutes
Of 18 dives I came up from 16 before I WANTED/NEEDED to... neither computer reached caution; up with 1000# or more in my tank with 80cuft tanks!
They cheated me out of several hundered dollars worth of dive time! (divide cost/dive time =$100/hr. About 15 minutes off every dive = $400)
I have 2 computers and I signed the two waviers...
I will not be back with Cayman Beach Resort. No reason to think their facility on Brac is any different!

Their boat, their rules
You could always setup your own dive outfit, get your own boat, your own insurance, your own staff...and then make your own rules. As it was their boat, I think their Captain has the final word. They never charged me extra $ for every dive being a "10", seeing more than my share of sea life, or for the music on the upper deck, so I might be biased.
GPS
I'm new to REEF, how do I find GPS coordinates for the specific reefs listed in the database? Thank you to anyone who can help me!!!
Little vs Brac
I dove with Reef Divers of Brac Reef Beach Resort, a little more than a year ago, and found their dive staff to be tolerant of those whose air consumption skills led to bottom times of more than an hour. The intelligent crew quickly made sure that those with the longest bottom times went in first because we we always last out. If this policy has changed at the Brac, I would be very disappointed. If this is truly the policy at Little Cayman, it will certainly affect my future travel plans there.
Grand Cayman is another story altogether, where many operations seem to be subject to boat schedules that require the staff to eat lunch and have the boat ready for afternoon dives or trips to stingray city. Although I'm an instructor, we were all treated like newbies.
Are these not the Cayman
Are these not the Cayman Island diving rules which tend to be more restrictive than other places I dive. I've never been with an operation in the Caymans that allows diving beyond an hour.
SD
Diving time.
I disagree with Ms. Coconuts. I have been on numerous dive boats that require only that you come up with 500 pounds (or more), with no restriction on times.
Lesson Learned
Sorry for getting into this so late but to me this is a good travel lesson. If you are going to dive from a boat ask if there are bottom time restrictions in advance. If you are not happy about their answer talk to the dive facility about the reason and if it would be possible to increase max bottom time. At least then you can make a decission that every one can live with.
If you want to make dives
If you want to make dives longer than 60 minutes, I suggest you try shore diving, chartering your own boat or perhaps liveaboard diving. It is unreasonable to expect a diveboat to allow timeless dives.
